all horrors aside on the way to vanessa’s manor, i really, absolutely LOVED the dramatic buildup to introducing it. its so EXTRA. IT REALLY FEELS LIKE SOMETHING THAT YOU SHOULD DEFINITELY DREAD AND I LOVE IT
the lonesome town. the snow. the ice. the bricked up path. it makes you feel like it’s not bc it wants to keep you OUT of it, but maybe. just maybe. its meant to keep something from getting out. the cold atmosphere. the soundtrack actually feels cold. i don’t know how they did it but the fuckin NAILED the mystery surrounding it. little clues strewn about. then you see the gate. walking towards the empty landscape and how the manor’s windows lights up in the blizzard.
the moment when you listen to Seal the Deal’s Snatcher lines and
realize that the reason you never see him on the Arctic Cruise after the
crate is because he never made it on the ship.
