reasons why Eternal Diva deserves an Academy Award:
- normally the Layton plots are like “it wasn’t this wacky supernatural thing! it was a wackier science fiction thing!” but here they did, in fact, brain-clone this girl
- puzzles are actually numbered in-universe and the puzzle-solving theme is just an enormous music box
- all that stuff with the Game of Life and the opera and the wolves had straight-up nothing to do with either Descole or Whistler’s actual goals. it was just for fun
- Layton deduces that the real culprit was Descole because he seems like the kind of guy who would own a castle
- the Azran civilization was wiped out by a worldwide robot apocalypse, except for the Ambrosians, who I guess just wiped themselves out independently because the Azran just couldn’t catch a break
- the tagline “(adventure + mystery) x brain teasers =
∞life” follows the order of operations. these brain teasers are full of both adventure AND mystery and that’s what eternal life is
