Cuphead Shitty Reboot in the 90s AU

  • Cuphead is the obnoxious rule breaking snarky protagonist who doesn’t follow the rules, probably rides a skateboard
  • Mugman is a snarky but not quite as rulebreaking young lad who follows his big brother in whatever he does. A student nonetheless (Cuphead copies his homework)
  • Both of em are in High School, known as Inkwell High
  • Elder Kettle is the boys caretakers and tries to be the boys voice of reason
  • Devil is the antagonist, the strict and “evil” principal who wants to find a reason to expel Cuphead and Mugman. They name him Principal D.
  • King Dice is the Vice Principal and Devil’s lackey in trying to get the boys in trouble. A typical meek yes-man minion who takes the brunt of Cup and Mug’s antics, running joke is King Dice grumpily muttering about getting a raise.
  • Cala Maria is the designated girl power character/love interest that Cuphead has a crush, uses surfer lingo.
  • I’ll add more to this maybe when I get to it

Beppi the Clown headcanons (BECAUSE SURE)

-Beppi has made a name for himself as the biggest prankster of inkwell isle. No one is safe from his shenanigans, not even the Devil.

-In fact, it’s what got him in trouble in the first place. In an act of vengeance, the Devil tricks him into signing a soul contract. But before he could take it, Beppi manages to escape…somehow? No one has any idea how.

-Beppi has mastered the art of hammer space (something that hasn’t been properly discovered by toons in his current timeline). If he can think of it, he can pull it out of hammer space, but only if the situation calls for it, and one item at a time.

-He’s a bit delusional; sometimes he’s not aware that some of his antics could be dangerous to himself or others around him, but thankfully someone (or rarely himself) manages to catch on in time and revert things back to normal

-He lives in the carnival’s fun house. There is a secret room that only he knows how to get into that he resides in when he’s not out and about. He’s also friends with all the toys inside.

-Bon Bon and Djimmi wern’t originally part of the carnival. They lived in their own respectable areas until certain events forced them to leave. Beppi offered for them to live with him at the carnival, and while they both didn’t agree right away, they eventually accepted his charity. Surprizingly enough, they found themselves enjoying their new home, and the carnival has never been more successful.

-Beppi was originally the one running the carnival, but he doesn’t like all the ‘boring paper stuff’ he has to do for it (most of the time he just turns all the files into paper crafts). Bon Bon eventually takes over all of the legal work so that Beppi can focus more on entertainment.

-Beppi idolizes Djimmi and his magic abilities, and has even ended up a volunteer for some of his tricks. None of them ever go as expected however considering Beppi’s own ‘magic’ unintentionally affecting the act.

-Keep this motherfucker away from the consession stand if you know whats good for you. Any chaos he usually brings will be boosted tenfold while on a sugar rush.

-Cuphead has an irrational fear/hatred for Beppi possibly brought on by colorphobia. Mugman, on the otherhand, is quite fond of him and enjoys his antics when they are harmless

-Headcanon voice is Paul Rugg (similar to that of Chuckles from Dave the Barbarian)

Heyyyyyy some more cuphead headcanons

Someday you’ll get tired of these

Cup is very protective over Mug, he knows his brother can take care of himself, but it’s better to be safe then sorry

I’ve seen a buncha people talk about this and I like it, Cup is a “fake it ‘til ya make it” kinda guy, and he doesn’t have the best ego, but his with his bro around, he’ll do just fine

They like hanging around all the bosses, but the first ones they pick are:

Wally Warbles, they like to babysit/hang out with Wally Jr. while him and Elder Kettle catch up on dad/grandpa stuff

Werner Werman, he shows them his cool inventions and tells them stories from the war

Baroness Von Bon Bon, she’s really nice and protective over them, plus she spoils them with sweets. She kinda acts like a sweet aunt to them

The Root Pack, they’re nice to the brothers and they give them good gardening advice, plus Moe makes really crappy puns and Psycarrot always glares at him in disgust, it makes them laugh

Cagney Carnation, Cup likes him a lil bit more because he’s more chaotic and eggs him on to do dumb stuff, but Mug still likes him. And he always has a new “roses are red, violets are blue” poem every week, whether it be goofy or romantic

After the whole selling their souls thing, Cup and Mug started hanging around the casino and made friends with some of Dice’s employees

King Dice has started becoming nicer, he forgave the Devil for mostly everything, (“Good-for-nothing lackey?? b YE”) But he owns the casino now, and he’s warmed up to his employees

If they go to school, I feel like Elder Kettle would make their lunches and put the little notes in them like moms do and hug and kiss them goodbye, Mug and Cup give him an extra hug and kiss before walking to school

I feel like The Root Pack would be brothers, obviously not blood related but they’re close enough to consider each other family

Or The Root Pack are boyfriends(i gotta make it gay somehow)

Cup used to be scared of bees because he’s allergic, so he’s a little uncomfortable around Rumor Honeybottoms because she’s the kind of friend to make sarcastic jokes a lot, and Cup doesn’t really understand sarcasm, so he thought that sooner later she would sting him and he would die

Beppi scared Cup and Mug on Halloween when they were younger, Cup ran away and Mug started crying and hit Beppi when he picked him up to comfort him

Mug hates coffee, but he likes tea. Cup hates tea, but he likes coffee. You could imagine the arguments

Mug and Cup hate their own laughing, Mug just wheezes and Cup is either really loud or silent laughter, no inbetween

When Cup sets his mind on something, he’s determined to accomplish it in any way he can, even if it means losing sleep. Mug tries to stop Cup from losing sleep over the little stuff by dragging him into one of their beds, cuddling up to him and never letting go. Cup is trying to get better

Elder Kettle has two jobs to take care of his kids, but Cup and Mug do chores for the bosses to help him relax a bit

It is a bit hard for him to juggle between taking care of his kids, taking care of himself, and working, but he tries

Elder always kisses them goodnight, but because he sometimes works over time, he can’talways be there, so Cup and Mug kiss each other goodnight when he isn’t there

– loves the sound of saxophones. wishes he could play one

– WILL bite anything put in his face

– yells everything. doesn’t know how to speak quietly

– HORRENDOUS poker face

– likes pranks, especially at the expense of others. the thing where his face kinda falls forward at the beginning of his fight is one of his favourites

– uses a lot of slang but he has no idea what it means

– sometimes forgets what hes saying and just fuckin screeches till he remembers

– weird laugh. wheezes

– likes to dance but really he just. wiggles

– owns a bowler hat and thinks thats hilarious

– he’s definitely chattering through his entire fight

Headcanons Dump

The liquid in the boys heads can be emptied out and changed to whatever they want. Mugman prefers sweet drinks like iced tea or fizzy drinks while Cuphead prefers coffee and vodka

While Cuphead seems to have a bit of an ego for himself, he’s actually got low self-esteem and is trying to “fake it til ya make it” with his confidence.

Cuphead is a huge crybaby

Mugman has the best green thumb in all of the Inkwell Isles. The boy can make anything grow.

Cuphead likes to cook but he’s terrible at it. However, whenever he cooks at home, you can bet your butt that Mugman and Elder Kettle will eat it just to see Cup’s proud face, even if it kills them.

Only Mugman can call Cuphead “Cuppy”. He’s not embarrassed about it or anything. It’s just something only his brother can do.

Cuphead is the best hype man.

The two are inseparable, however if they are away from each other for more than a day, they suffer from major separation anxiety. They can’t eat or sleep and sometimes won’t even talk until they are back together.

Since this is so popular, I think I’ll add a few more:

After Beppi’s fight, the two are terrified of roller coasters.

There is blood in the two of them. If their heads got cracked, they would bleed the same as if as person got a cut.

Depending on the size, if a piece of them broke of, it wouldn’t kill them as long as they got it patched up quickly. Tape and glue work better than any bandages.

Their straws are only decorative. They can swap them with other straws as they please.

Cuphead is afraid of the dark but won’t admit it.

Mugman is afraid of storms

As far as the two are concerned, Elder Kettle is not just their grandad but also their parent. Sometimes they will refer to him as dad. They don’t believe they have any other parents or relatives. It’s just the three of them and they’re happy to keep it that way.

The two like to hang out with certain bosses after the events of the game. Rides on Grim’s back, gardening with Cagney, baking with Von Bon Bon and swimming with Cala Maria are among their favourite things to do

More Cuphead headcanons

– Both of the boys can play instruments; Cuphead can play the trumpet while Mugman can play trombone

– While Mugman is naturally the more cautious of the two of them, he’s also really good at playing innocent to get what he wants, while Cuphead can’t play innocent for shit

– Cuphead swears like a sailor while Mugman says things like ‘gosh’ and ‘golly’ and ‘darn’

– When they get angry, the liquid in their head boils

– They don’t like snowy/icy temperatures cause whatever liquid is in their head will freeze over and make their heads heavy

– Cuphead loves puns, just atrocious puns, Mugman is never impressed
