CONGRATULATIONS, everybody! We only have 10 days to fight the FCC & the repeal of #NetNeutrality!
Thanks to John Oliver there’s a SUPER easy way to do this Do you enjoy Netflix? Do you find yourself spending too much time on FB? If net neutrality goes away, our Internet bills go up and we give power to companies like Comcast and Spectrum.
Here’s what you can do – takes less than a minute: 1. Go to gofccyourself.com (the shortcut John Oliver made to the hard-to-find FCC comment page) 2. Click on the 17-108 link (Restoring Internet Freedom) 2. Click on “express” 3. Be sure to hit “ENTER” after you put in your name & info so it registers. 4. In the comment section write, “I strongly support net neutrality backed by Title 2 oversight of ISPs.” 5. Click to submit, done. – Make sure you hit submit at the end! **Feel free to share this**
EDIT: We’re not yet. But we WILL be. And THEY need to know that.
I’ve already commented on one post, but I can’t with a clean conscience sit by without making my own.
I see so many posts about Net Neutrality, and while I think it’s tremendous how many of you are emailing the FCC, some of those emails aren’t going to change minds.
Some of you are emailing the chairman himself. Ajit Pai was a former Verison employee. It doesn’t matter how many emails you send to him. You could literally tell him that you depend on the Internet’s resources to live, and he would not bat an eye.
Many of you are putting in your emails that hospitals and schools will see troubles. I appreciate the effort, but when these men are the very same men who have already taken SO MUCH from hospitals and schools, will they?
What you NEED to do, is speak their language. That language is dollar signs. Make your voice sound like MONEY THEY WILL BE LOSING.
We live in a nation where restaurants are failing because no one can afford a $20 meal anymore. What makes the FCC think we can afford more than $60 Internet? E-commerce is essential to the US economy. If users are forced to go through paywall after paywall, they will STOP purchasing anything off the Internet. The nosedive in stocks will be the likes of nothing you’ve ever seen.
Without the freedom to choose which websites we visit, the internet, for many of you on Tumblr like me, will become virtually meaningless. Make THAT the message you spread to these two “Yes votes.” Tell them that if the Internet becomes just like cable TV, which none of us are able to afford, they will LOSE the few dollars we have.
They’ll be interested in hearing that.
These are the emails of the two FCC members voting “yes” on the repeal of NN. If anyone’s mind is going to be changed. It has to be one of these guys. And it has to be before December 14th.

If we speak their language, there may still be hope. Good luck, everyone.
today is Nov. 15. the FCC, under chairman Ajit Pai, will not listen to the public despite millions of comments in support of net neutrality. They are going to try their hardest to kill net neutrality, which in turn will kill the internet, which in turn will help eradicate democracy. it won’t just affect Americans, it has the potential to affect the entire internet, something we ALL use daily. you can bet your ass other countries will see america doing this, and use it as an excuse to do it in their own countries.
this is what buying a plan without net neutrality looks like there:
you have to pay MORE for features you’re already guaranteed to have under net neutrality. and in america, you already know how expensive everything is.
democrats AND republicans both want net neutrality. advocacy groups in touch with congress have said that if your members of congress receive calls from you, they are more encouraged and more likely to take action to stop Pai’s plan to gut net neutrality. after Nov. 22, it will be MUCH HARDER to convince your member of congress.
hey guys, please reblog this version and don’t forget to call!!! if you are nervous about calling, you can use resistbot to send faxes to your reps and thestance appto pre-record your message so you won’t have to speak to anyone. (available in both google play and app store)
They don’t care about the public’s opinion anymore??? Are you shitting me??? Isn’t America supposed to be a democracy where the people have a say in the future of this country?? They say they won’t listen to opinions anymore.
GUYS PUMP OUT COLD HARD FACTS. I’LL BE WRITING AN EMAIL TO THE HEAD SCUMBAG HIMSELF WITH SOME COLD HARD FACTS. I SUGGEST YOU GUYS DO THE SAME!!!
ps: i know I’m being obnoxious with all the unnecessary punctuation and all caps but i need to get the message across.
I absolutely agree with rephrasing the letters and redoubling efforts but as cathartic as it is to send letters directly to Ajit Pai, it’s misdirecting useful energy. He is about as anti-net neutrality as it is physically possible to be and even if you are a lawyer and you send perfectly phrased legalese to him, he is not going to change his position. The key here is to send messages to people that can potentially be swayed.

These are the other commissioners of the FCC. Please, aside from your senators and representatives, email these people and let them hear your voice.
(x) This is a link to the leadership page for the FCC, under each name is a tab where you can email them directly, please take the time to do so if you can.
FYI, I had a couple of posts tagged net neutrality scheduled to go out over the last couple days but they somehow never showed up? I’m suspicious now that they’re being censored. Keep an eye out for this.
this literally just happened i’ll post the screen cap in second
Error Code: OCP02 [Post Not Found] does this violate current net neutrality itself? like censoring posts like this …
It sure does. Big companies have been censoring content and voices for years, but without net neutrality they’ll basically be getting paid to do it en masse. It’ll get way worse way fast.
If net neutrality goes through, I’m gonna have a LOT of time on my hands, since I won’t be using the Internet. SO, I will be calling the FCC nonstop with all that free time just to complain and really make it clear that I am PISSED.
The FCC refuses to listen to anything we have to say about Net Neutrality. unless it involves serious legal issues. So today, I’m going to give us one, so we can all beat them at their own game.
In 2003, the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) convened and specifically established the following: “We reaffirm, as an essential foundation of the Information Society, and as outlined in Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, that everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression;that this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers […] Everyone, everywhere should have the opportunity to participate and no one should be excludedfrom the benefits the Information Society offers.” [2]
If Net Neutrality is repealed, ISPs will be able to interfere with who, specifically, has access to particular parts of and possibly even the whole Internet. This is a contradiction to the official reaffirmation above and thus it is a direct violation of our HUMAN RIGHTS.
Spread the word NOW. Contact your reps (which I have already done) and hell, the FCC too, and let them know that OUR HUMAN RIGHTS WILL NOT BE VIOLATED.
The word about this NEEDS to get out to everyone, RIGHT NOW. Do not hesitate to reblog this.
Last Wednesday, FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler announced a proposal for new rules that would allow for a “ fast lane” of Internet traffic for content providers who are willing (and able) to pay a fee. [1] The proposal reverses the FCC’s previous commitment to net neutrality and open internet and allows ISP’s like Comcast or Verizon to slow down and censor services that don’t pay the toll.
We have to be totally honest, this situation is seriously grim. But there is still hope. The FCC already knows that the Internet community wants net neutrality, but they think they can put their spin on these new rules and sneak them through. If we can prove them wrong right now with a massive public outcry, we can literally save the Internet once again.
We need to stop the FCC now. Big business groups are already ramping up lobbying efforts with the FCC in swarms since Wednesday’s announcement in support of censoring the open Internet and to ensure this dangerous proposal moves forward. [2]
This is a critical moment. In the last few weeks more than 65,000 people have taken action with us. Can you help us get to 80,000 by the end of the day today?
we’re almost ¾ of the way there!! c’mon guys, every bit counts!
will it ever stop
fucking signal boost
IF YOU ARE NOT SIGNAL BOOSTING THIS YOU ARE NOT PAYING ATTENTION.
IF THE U.S. FALLS TO THIS IT WILL OPEN OTHER DANGEROUS DOORS INTERNATIONALLY.
Start a civil war against the US government.
Signal boost for my us followers
I try to keep the things I reblog as blog/mun-centric as possible, but this is something I just can’t let slide.
I’ve been following this cause since last year. I’ve signed petitions, I’ve called representatives, I’ve been to protests, the whole nine yards.
This right here? This is not a joke. This is seriously happening, guys.
Remember the Wikipedia shutdown? That was to protest this right here. If you haven’t taken action against this yet, frankly, what is wrong with you? If this doesn’t get stopped, we’re going to lose the thing that brings us all together unless we shell out huge sums of cash to these corrupt bastards.
