Net Neutrality has been Repealed.

dreammausoleum:

As predicted, all three men voted to dismantle the protections. Please go to their twitters and call them gopher fuckers.

You may panic, but be smart. There are plenty of lawsuits waiting in the wings. Net Neutrality repeals have failed twice before when taken to court. However- do not bank on it, there is always a chance for this slimy shit to slither right through.

What you should do right now is call Congress and tell them what you think.

If we are quick enough we can force them into using the CRA– the Congressional Review Act. You can tell them you want that.

We have 60 days to do this.

Here’s a link with some info.

You’ll see a script on your screen, or you can say something like this:

I support Title II net neutrality, and I urge you to use the
Congressional Review Act to pass a “resolution of disapproval” reversing
the FCC’s December vote to repeal the Open Internet Order.”

You also need to call your Senators and Representatives, especially if they received money from any telecom companies (Verizon, Comcast, AT&T and so on). Give. Them. Hell.

You can also Text “BATTLE” to 384-387 to use a simple chat-bot to send a message to your lawmakers.

Text “RESIST” to 50409 for ResistBot.

Here is a page from the ACLU with instructions.

If you are outside of the US, consider donating to these organizations- they will continue the fight for the free internet.

REMEMBER. THE BATTLE ISN’T OVER UNTIL YOU GIVE UP.

NEVER TIRE, NEVER STOP WATCHING.

trueangst:

just a reminder that the internet doesn’t actually DIE tomorrow. They just vote on rather net neutrality should be a thing or not. after that, they have to fight the law at court.

SO NET NEUTRALITY WILL STILL BE HERE AFTER THE 14TH PLEASE DONT FREAK OUT.

BUT ALSO MAKE SURE TO SIGN PETITIONS, OR TEXT, OR CALL SOMEONE IN OFFICE.

Edit: ok after countless complaints from you bitches, the best thing to do is actually CALL instead of signing petitions since the fcc doesn’t give a damn about them, so please call instead.

downsideright:

Take a deep breath and repeat after me:

We will not lose open internet tomorrow. Even if the repeal goes through, we will not lose our open internet tomorrow. The process is longer than that. I’m posting this again, because there are a lot of people who are under the impression that if the vote goes through tomorrow that we won’t have access to the sites we love, which can happen, but tomorrow’s vote is the beginning of a long war.

Please take a deep breath and keep calling your reps.

LET’S CLEAR AWAY MISINFORMATION

~Our Representatives *do* have a say. They *can* stop this

~ Resistbot is GOOD. IT IS OK. It faxs your Reps. Not the FCC. AND YOU WRITE YOUR OWN MESSAGE (only thing is you won’t get a response so you don’t know if they are on our side. Still works.)

~The Vote is happening December 11th. We will know by December 12th.

~The FCC isn’t accepting bots or votes from minors. But our Reps might accept votes from minors. Idk for sure but it’s worth a shot.

~EMAILING WORKS. BUT ONLY YOUR REPS. I’ve seen screenshots of people’s response emails from their reps. Emailing still works.

~At this point. Nothing is going to change the FCC’s mind. So focus on your Reps.

~FCC isn’t accepting emails, bots, or votes from minors. Get on those Reps.

If net neutrality dies we aren’t getting it back. I just hope you guys know that. This government never fixes it’s mistakes until decades later if at all, and especially under Trump, they won’t ever fix their mistakes.

The BEST thing you can do is to call your members of Congress at 202-224-3121. Call three times, because you have two senators and one House representative.

Congress has oversight over the FCC, and they have stopped their votes before. Its vital you call them now, go to their local offices now (chances are there is one right next to you), and pressure them to take action. To actually go over there and stop them. To bring up all the lies the FCC is saying about net neutrality, about how they’re ignoring the lawsuit against them. WE ONLY HAVE 6 DAYS!!.

Wait do people NOT all 100% realize this?

Any lightening or loosening to corporate regulation, any change in law that gives them more freedom to do things their way and make more money, is historically permanent. It gets treated as the new precedent and standard and therefore unfair to take away ever again.

We’ve already lost part of it, I’d like not to lose even more
