So, to clarify what’s going to happen, here’s a handy checklist:

What will happen

  • Images of real-life nudity will be flagged
  • Flagged posts will be only viewable by the poster and nobody else
  • Flagged posts can be appealed and fixed if done so by mistake
  • That’s it

What will not happen

  • Blogs will not be indiscriminately deleted
  • Posts will not be indiscriminately deleted
  • Written smut will not intentionally be flagged
  • Illustrated or otherwise artistic nudity will not intentionally be flagged
  • Tumblr’s RP community, SFW or otherwise, will not implode upon itself

just in case no-one wants to reblog that long ass post

how to disable most tumblr third party cookies on your computer:

  1. go to settings, then privacy
  2. uncheck “cookie consent”
  3. you’ll be redirected to the white screen telling you about the new EU laws
  4. go to “manage options”, then click the blue “manage” link
  5. uncheck all the things!
  6. check you’ve unchecked all the things! be aware that if you miss anything or want to go back and change your options, you will have to uncheck all 300+ entries again.
  7. press okay!
  8. whilst you’re on the privacy screen, turn off improved searching. it tracks your search terms.

tumblr may still install cookies on your computer, but this will get rid of most of them. the
best thing for you to do to avoid tumblr doing shitty things to your
account (besides leaving) is to install privacy tools and adblockers. i
personally use UBlock Origin, Disconnect, HTTPS Everywhere, Cookie
Autoclean and Privacy Badger. Privacy Badger blocks unnecessary cookies and stops most third-party trackers, UBlock blocks ads, Cookie Autoclean removes cookies
after you leave a site, HTTPS Everywhere forces websites to use HTTPS
when possible, and Disconnect enforces do-not-track requests. I also use
a TamperMonkey script that kills anti-adblock mechanisms. I also highly
suggest buying a VPN based in a non-US non-”Fourteen Eyes” country,
such as AirVPN or TrustZone.

i would recommend against using
AdBlock Plus or Ghostery – Ghostery sold consumer data to advertisement
companies, and Adblock has an ad whitelist sponsored by advertisment
companies.
